Today is Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. Wherever she goes, there are enthusiasts swathed in flags and sporting extreme hats and toting the occasional dog, and so naturally, there was quite a crowd waiting outside Windsor Castle Thursday morning to wish her well.

These two came all the way from Cardiff, wearing their finest pink.

They also brought balloons, because this is a birthday party, after all.

Here we have the “Three Criers,” which is presumably not an official designation but rather more of a self-assumed responsibility. I do believe that man on the left is holding a selfie stick festooned with a Union Jack behind his bell.

What’s the protocol on wearing your own crown to meet the queen?

According to the accompanying caption, these two waited outside all night. They look very cold.

What do you get for the woman who has, if not everything, certainly more than enough? Flowers and art by small children.

But maybe a few of these people were just angling for a slice of the cake made by Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain.
